The Government of the United Republic of Tanzania, through the Tanzania Geothermal Development Company (TGDC) will be hosting the Tenth African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C10) in partnership with UN Environment Programme (UNEP), African Geothermal Association (AGA), and other international partners involved in geothermal sector in the region. The conference will be held at Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania from 11 – 17 November 2024.
The Conference consists of:
Four geothermal training courses will be held two days prior to the 10th Africa Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C10) from 11-12 November 2024. These pre-conference short courses, are aimed at building and enhancing capacity and knowledge exchange in geothermal resource exploration and development value chain, within the continent.
The aim of this main conference is to promote regional cooperation, create an information exchange platform on the exploration, development, investment and utilization of the geothermal resources in the region. The overarching theme of the conference is "Accelerating Geothermal Resources to Net Zero Emissions"
The main conference will consist of various plenary sessions, a Ministerial Roundtable, Breakout Parallel Technical Sessions that entail oral presentations of technical papers, and the Annual AGA Meeting
A field visit to the Mbeya- Ngozi area geothermal prospects and various safari tours wil be organized on 16-17 November 2024. Delegates of the Tenth African Rift Geothermal Conference (ARGeo-C10) will be selected to spend two days post-conference sampling Tanzania’s countryside.
The conference will also provide opportunities for exhibitors to showcase their projects, products, equipment and services. It wil serve as an opportune time for business networking, sharing of experiences and knowledge with lead personalities and institutions in the geothermal sector from Africa and elsewhere in the world. It will also provide a platform for exhibitors to lay down strategies on how to harness Africa’s abundant geothermal resource, now estimated at 20,000MWe.s.
